Lectio Divina – October 1, 2023 | Twenty-six Sunday in Ordinary Time

“Humbly regard others as more important than ourselves.”

Proper of Readings for the Twenty-six Sunday in Ordinary Time

Reflection by Bro. Gem Bernabe

Change, a word that is ever constant and brings fear to to people especially most youths today. Personally, transitioning is one of the things that scares me the most, as this is the time you must go out of your comfort zones and explore new things that you have yet to experience. This is the fear that I am currently facing right now, which is transitioning form high school to college. I have to admit, transitioning is very challenging process as countless of adjustments and sacrifices have to be made just to cope up with the new environment and responsibilities. In my case, transitioning from my old school to new school, where I had to sacrifice my time, my hobbies, the people I love the most, and some of my commitments just to aid in the process of adapting and adjusting.

However, even though I think of this stage of my life as challenging, I always thought of this as a BLESSING and an opportunity from God as this situation helps me to mold a much better version of myself, as well as helped me to humble myself as meeting new people that came from different places and backgrounds made me realize that I am super blessed as a person. With this, I am planning to give back to the Lord by serving Him and spreading His Love to everyone especially to those people who have not yet experienced His everlasting Love, wherever I may go.

Reflection Question:

  1. How do we view suffering? Do we see it as a Punishment or a Blessing? Why?
  2. Do we try our best to extend ourselves whenever people need help?

Final Prayer

Lord, help me to become like you. Humble enough to better understand the people around you. Graceful enough to see things as blessings even though in the toughest of times. Lord I know that we sometimes loose sight of what is really important which is you O God. Stay with us always, Jesus. Amen.
