Lectio Divina – October 6, 2023 | Friday of the Twenty-six Sunday in Ordinary Time
“We have sinned before the Lord our God and we have not believed, lacking confidence in him.”
Proper of Readings for the Friday on the Twenty-six Sunday in Ordinary Time
Reflection by Bro Gene Julian Villafuerte
The verse above strikes me the most because we have sinned and we are sinners, and, in our generation today, many people do not believe in our Lord God; some are doing their things the fast way because they cannot wait on what our Lord can be given to them. Some of us are desperate for things, so we tend to sin often. Disobeying him is a destructive sin and can lead to terrible things and others will think God is no longer with us.
It is a reminder that when we reject Christ and his teachings, we are, in essence, rejecting the very essence of God’s message. This passage challenges us to consider the implications of our choices and our responsibility in accepting or rejecting the transformative grace that flows through faith in Jesus. It serves as a call to embrace Christ and the profound love, wisdom, and purpose he represents, recognizing that to reject him is to distance ourselves from the divine source of ultimate guidance and salvation.

Points of Reflection:
- How do you relate to the confession of sin and lack of confidence in God expressed in Baruch 1:17?
- How can this guide your actions and decisions seeking a more faithful and confident relationship with the divine?
- What steps can individuals take to rebuild their trust and confidence in God after acknowledging their sins?
Final Prayer
Lord our God, in Your wisdom and love, you surround us with the mysteries of the universe. In times long past, you sent us your prophets to teach Your laws and to bear witness to Your undying love. You sent us your Son to teach us by word and example that true wisdom comes from You alone. Send Your Spirit to students and teachers and fill them with wisdom and blessings. Grant that during this academic year, they may devote themselves to their studies and share what they have learned from others. Amen.
