Lectio Divina – October 8, 2023 | Twenty-seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time, Memorial of Our Lady of Victories, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary de La Naval
“Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” – Phil 4:6-9
Proper of Readings for the Twenty-seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time
Reflection by Aaron Natividad
As we can see from the verse above, we can get a glimpse of what the one of the readings is all about. By praying and giving out thanks to God, we can get the peace that we want, peace that we seek thru God’s Blessing. Just like the verse said we can Surpass the all the understanding that we have right now as we have peace, and our hearts and minds will be guided by our lord Jesus Christ.
For the first reading it reminds us of care and effort we invest in our pursuits, hoping for the sweet fruits of our labor. Yet, sometimes, despite our best intentions and hard work, things go awry, and we yield “wild grapes” instead of the expected harvest. It’s a reflection on the human condition, our tendency to fall short of our potential, and the consequences of our actions. The analogy of the vineyard being abandoned and left to ruin serves as a reminder of the importance of tending to our values and responsibilities to avoid a similar fate.

Points of Reflection:
- How can I be more vigilant and aware of my work?
- How can I express my thanks and sincere apologies through Jesus and God.
- Lastly, how can I nurture and fulfill my responsibilities with guidance with God?
Final Prayer
Dear God, may you guide us in the right path and give us protection and guidance as we progress this life of ours. May you guide us and give us knowledge on how to face such challenges we face on a daily basis. We humbly pray and ask for your sincere heart to give us the faith we needed every day, may you lead us to the light and not in the darkness. Amen.
